Namma Metro Pink Line expansion progress

Overview

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has progressed through regulatory milestones for the Namma Metro Pink Line. In late September, the Railway Board sanctioned new BEML trainsets for the 7.5-km elevated section, a requirement for the corridor’s commissioning. This approval was to be included in documentation for the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) inspection. Additionally, the line received the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) certificate for its signalling systems.

Following the sanction, the CMRS conducted a three-day statutory safety inspection from October 6 to October 8, reviewing infrastructure, depot facilities, signaling, and traffic control.

As of late October, Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda announced that operational approval for the 7.5-km elevated section between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere is expected within four to five days. While the state government has requested the Union government to finalize an inauguration date, no formal response has been received. Once the CMRS issues final authorization, the Pink Line will expand the total operational network to 103.60 km.
