Nampula province receives humanitarian aid for malnutrition and terrorism displacement

Humanitarian efforts are intensifying in Mozambique's Nampula province to address malnutrition and the fallout from terrorism. UNICEF has delivered a vehicle to the Technical Secretariat for Food and Nutritional Security (SETSAN) to bolster the fight against chronic malnutrition in the Meconta and Eráti districts. This initiative is part of the NutriNort program, a $35 million project funded by the European Union and implemented by the Mozambican government, spanning Nampula, Zambézia, and Cabo Delgado through 2028.

Simultaneously, Plan International is providing aid to approximately 10,000 children in the Eráti and Memba districts who have been affected by terrorism-related displacement. Through the Restore and Reach projects, the organization offers educational and protection services, including psychosocial support and learning activities in “Child Friendly Spaces.” For children unable to attend regular schools due to security risks, mobile brigades and accelerated learning programs are being utilized to recover lost schooling time.
