Nana Patekar death confirmed as natural following massive heart attack

The final post-mortem report for veteran Indian actor Nana Patekar has confirmed that his death was natural, caused by a massive heart attack. A panel of doctors at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Bambolim determined that a blood clot in the main coronary artery blocked blood flow and oxygen to the heart, leading to cardiac arrest.

Patekar, 75, passed away on October 8, 2026, after being rushed to Manipal Hospital in Goa. Following his death, Panaji Police had initially registered an unnatural death case under Section 194 of the BNSS as a standard legal procedure. However, with the medical report ruling out foul play and the family expressing no objections, authorities are expected to close the case.

The actor was cremated with state honors at his farmhouse in Donje, Pune. His passing has drawn tributes from across the film industry and political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His son, Malhar Patekar, reflected on his father's humanitarian legacy during the funeral proceedings.
