Nana Patekar passes away; resurfaced video shows casting dispute with Anil Kapoor
Following the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar, an old video from the promotions of the film ‘Vanvaas’ has resurfaced. In the footage, Patekar candidly tells actor Anil Kapoor that he ‘bullied’ him during the production of the 1989 film ‘Parinda’.
Patekar explained that he had originally been rehearsing for the role of Jackie Shroff’s elder brother, but the casting was changed. He noted that while the shift was frustrating, it allowed him to play the memorable character Anna. Kapoor responded by stating that he honestly believed Shroff was the best choice for that specific role, though he acknowledged that final casting decisions rest with the director.
Patekar, who was 75, passed away in Goa following a cardiac arrest. He was cremated with full state honours at his farmhouse in Donje, Pune district. The ceremony was attended by various members of the film industry, including Jackie Shroff.
