Nanni Moretti’s ‘It Will Happen Tonight’ premieres at Venice Film Festival
Nanni Moretti’s new film, ‘It Will Happen Tonight’, has been presented in competition at the Venice Film Festival. The film, which stars Louis Garrel and Jasmine Trinca, is an adaptation of stories from Eshkol Nevo’s ‘Hungry Heart’ and follows a romantic relationship spanning several decades and different nations.
During the festival, Louis Garrel shared anecdotes from the production, including a humorous difficulty with a basketball scene where Moretti successfully made a shot that Garrel struggled to replicate over 25 takes. Garrel also noted a discrepancy regarding a Vespa scooter he expected to use for a scene set in Rome.
Critics have noted the film’s ambitious, sprawling structure, which shifts between comedy, melodrama, and epic romance, though some reviews suggest the film struggles with character chemistry and pacing as it jumps through time intervals of up to seven years.
