Nanning promotes AI and regional connectivity through trade and innovation events

Nanning recently hosted several major events focused on digital intelligence, artificial intelligence (AI), and regional connectivity. The Nanning-Hanoi Economic Corridor and Nanning Friendship Cities Belt and Road 2026 Conference emphasized the role of AI in urban governance and industrial development. Key outcomes included the signing of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0 Upgrade Protocol and the opening of the Pinglu Canal, aimed at boosting trade, logistics, and the digital economy between Nanning and ASEAN cities.

To further drive innovation, the 9th China·Nanning Overseas Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition concluded in late September. The competition featured 824 projects across tracks such as AI, new energy, and biomedicine, with AI-related entries making up over 33.9 percent of submissions. The event included a dedicated ASEAN AI track and drew participation from researchers and entrepreneurs associated with global institutions, including the University of Cambridge and the National University of Singapore.
