Nantes agribusiness firms partner to reduce food waste
Agribusiness companies in Nantes are collaborating to reduce food waste through a new industrial recovery model led by the social enterprise Handi-gaspi. Following the success of its KIGNON brand, which transforms unsold bread into biscuits, the initiative aims to scale up by pooling resources and expertise among competitors.
On June 18, major industry players including Tipiak and Daunat met to establish a framework for mutualizing waste streams. The goal is to transform industrial losses into raw materials, creating value from what was previously considered waste while simultaneously providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
