Naples and Tangier cultural exchange highlighted in new Di Meo project
The 2027 Di Meo Calendar, titled ‘Napoli Tangeri, Dialoghi Mediterranei’, has been presented in Tangier. Curated by Generoso Di Meo, the project aims to connect Naples with international cities through photography, history, and art.
The calendar features photography by Massimo Listri and texts from 12 cultural figures. It explores the historical and cultural links between Naples and Tangier, framing them as two Mediterranean ports united by centuries of exchange in language, religion, and commerce. The presentation took place at the Moulay Hafid, the Palace of Italian Institutions, following a reception at the Tangier American Legation.
Separately, the documentary ‘Vedi Napoli. Città su carta’, available on Raiplay, explores the history of Neapolitan cartography. Part of the ‘Astronomia senza Barriere’ project by the Capodimonte Astronomical Observatory, the film traces the city's mapping from early representations to the 1775 map by Giovanni Carafa, Duke of Noja.
