Naples launches second phase of new Municipal Urban Plan consultations

The City of Naples has launched the second phase of public consultation for its new Municipal Urban Plan (PUC). Following the preliminary stage, the initiative aims to transform the strategic vision of ‘Naples, a Just City’ into concrete urban actions.

The consultation process will consist of five meetings focusing on key urban themes: employment, housing, environment, regeneration, and mobility. The first session, titled ‘Development Economies: Beyond Tourism and Consumption,’ focuses on knowledge, innovation, research, and manufacturing. It seeks to engage businesses, unions, research centers, and the third sector to build an economic model that moves beyond tourism reliance to support manufacturing and innovation.

To accommodate a diverse economic system, the PUC identifies strategic areas for new production sites, specifically Napoli Est for industrial redevelopment and Napoli Ovest toward the Phlegraean area. Additionally, the plan aims to protect the historic center by balancing creative and artisanal growth with residential stability and social cohesion. Deputy Mayor Laura Lieto stated that the plan is a tool to express a vision for a flexible city capable of hosting scientific and creative talents.
