Naples hosts America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta in September 2026

Naples is hosting the second America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta (PR2) from September 24 to 27, 2026. The event features AC40 yachts and includes teams such as Luna Rossa, Emirates Team New Zealand, GB1, Team Australia, American Racing, La Roche-Posay, and Tudor Alinghi. The competition will consist of fleet races followed by a match-race final on Sunday.

To support the event, the Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (ADM) has implemented simplified customs procedures and tax benefits for the nautical sector, which are already in effect for the regatta. These measures aim to facilitate the movement of international goods and equipment while maintaining security and anti-fraud controls.

Local initiatives include the ‘Le rotte del Vesuvio’ cultural excursion program and various community events in Bacoli. However, the event has faced local opposition in Bagnoli, where activists have staged protests against construction works. They cite environmental concerns, including the presence of hydrocarbons in the water, and argue that the 200 million euros allocated for America’s Cup-related works have not contributed to the remediation of the Bagnoli area.
