Sweden: Amnesiac man living at Naples airport reunited with family

A Swedish man named Daniel, who lived for several months at Naples Capodichino Airport without identification, money, or memory of his past, has been reunited with his family. The situation, which drew international attention due to its resemblance to the film “The Terminal,” reached a resolution through the coordinated efforts of the Naples Municipality, social services, and the Swedish Embassy.

Daniel, approximately 25 years old, had been staying at the airport terminal, where he relied on the kindness of staff and travelers for food and clothing. He reportedly claimed that he had been attacked and robbed in Rome, an event that led to his loss of documents and memory, though these claims have not been independently verified.

Following his decision to cooperate with local authorities, Daniel was transferred to a municipal reception center in Naples. Social workers and the Swedish Embassy successfully re-established contact with his parents, who had not heard from him since August. Daniel has expressed a desire to return to Sweden, and local officials are now working with diplomatic channels to organize his repatriation.
