Naples to remove 19 waterfront kiosks for America's Cup

The City of Naples is accelerating the removal of 19 kiosks from the Caracciolo waterfront to make space for the America's Cup Village. The intervention is driven by upcoming pre-regattas scheduled from September 24 to 27. Priority will be given to structures located between via Caracciolo and the Rotonda Diaz.

The removal costs will be charged to the kiosk owners. If they do not cooperate, the municipality will proceed with the removal and seek reimbursement from the owners. This follows a long-standing dispute dating back to 2024, when the structures were seized due to irregularities regarding public land occupation fees. Recent appeals by the owners were rejected by the TAR (Regional Administrative Court).

A new urban plan is being developed to relocate these activities toward Villa Comunale. The new plan envisions smaller, aesthetically uniform structures that will no longer occupy the seafront, similar to the design standards for outdoor seating on via Partenope. The project requires approval from the Superintendency, the Giunta, and the City Council, with the goal of having the new setup ready for the 2027 America's Cup regattas.
