Narendra Modi and Nikol Pashinyan reaffirm India‑Armenia partnership post‑election

On June 24, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, congratulating him and his party on their victory in Armenia’s parliamentary election held on June 7. Modi thanked Pashinyan for assisting in the safe evacuation of Indian citizens from Iran amid recent regional tensions. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation across trade, defence, technology and people‑to‑people contacts, stating their aim to take India‑Armenia relations to new heights. The dialogue took place against the backdrop of the Russia‑Ukraine war and recent Russian restrictions on Armenian exports.
