Mumbai police arrest two suspects with fake PMO ID and firearm
Mumbai police arrested two individuals, 24-year-old Rohan Parekh and his bodyguard Dilip Kunde, at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Bandra-Kurla Complex. The incident occurred shortly before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026.
Authorities discovered that Parekh was using a counterfeit Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) identity card to gain access to the high-security venue. During the interception, police also recovered a licensed firearm from Kunde. Security was heightened across Mumbai, including at the airport, following the discovery of the potential security breach.
The Mumbai Crime Branch is leading the investigation to determine the suspects' motives and whether they were part of a larger conspiracy. Police are currently searching for a third suspect, identified as 26-year-old Prathmesh Bagul.
