Mumbai security breach involving fake PMO credentials

Overview

Mumbai police arrested two individuals, Rohan Parekh and Dilip Kunde, at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Bandra-Kurla Complex. The arrest occurred shortly before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026.

Authorities discovered that Parekh was using a counterfeit Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) identity card to access the high-security venue. During the interception, police recovered a licensed firearm from Kunde. Following the incident, security was heightened across Mumbai, including at the airport. The Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating the suspects' motives and searching for a third individual, Prathmesh Bagul.
