At the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned that rising geopolitical tensions, supply chain disruptions, and climate crises are threatening global stability. He specifically cautioned against the “weaponisation of technology and critical minerals,” noting that such actions could hinder shared prosperity and development.
Modi emphasized that the BRICS grouping serves as an “ecosystem of solutions” for the Global South, ensuring that the voices and experiences of developing nations are respected. To address practical challenges, the bloc agreed to establish an integrated early warning system for infectious diseases and discussed initiatives such as a Logistics Supply Chain Cooperation Framework, a BRICS Startup Innovation Fund, and a Network on Digital Agriculture.
On the sidelines of the summit, Modi engaged in 15 bilateral meetings over three days. Key discussions included defense and energy cooperation with Russia, regional connectivity and maritime security with Iran, and the importance of border stability with China. The summit concluded with a focus on transforming agreements from “files to real-life impact” through resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability.
