Nariño coffee producers to elect Departmental Committee
The Nariño department is preparing for elections to the Departmental Coffee Committee on September 5. Eligible producers will elect representatives to advocate for the sector's interests for the next four years.
The committee serves as a vital link between coffee growers and institutions, managing technical assistance programs, production strengthening initiatives, and projects to improve the living conditions of coffee-farming families.
One of the competing slates, Slate Number 1, is led by Ruby Pantoja with Jimmy Herrera as the alternate. Their platform focuses on increasing family incomes and addressing specific municipal needs. Key proposals include managing resources for fertilizer access and improving tertiary roads through the construction of specialized paving solutions. The candidates developed their proposals following meetings with representatives from various municipalities, including Buesaco, Chachagüí, Pasto, and several others, to ensure solutions are tailored to local territorial conditions.
