Nariño leaders discuss regional development and future growth

In a discussion held in Pasto, local leaders and experts explored the future development of the Nariño department. Participants including Luis Ernesto Chaves, Xiomara Erazo, and Mario Cepeda Bravo addressed the region's potential for transformation, moving beyond historical missed opportunities.

The conversation touched upon the 'Gran Refinería de Occidente,' a major industrial project proposed in the 1970s that could have brought significant employment and infrastructure to the southwest. Rather than dwelling on past failures like the refinery or lost railway connections, the discussion emphasized the need for Nariño to focus on future growth and modern economic possibilities.
