Naruna Costa wins Best Supporting Actress at Gramado Film Festival

Actress Naruna Costa has won the Kikito award for Best Supporting Actress at the 54th Gramado Film Festival for her role in the film ‘Pele de Rinoceronte’, directed by Marcello Ludwig Maia.

In the film, Costa portrays Maria Thereza, a criminal lawyer prosecuting a man involved in a femicide inspired by the famous Ângela Diniz case. The narrative explores the social impacts of gender violence and the oppression faced by women.

During her acceptance speech, Costa connected her personal background as the daughter of farmers to the symbolic weight of the award. She stated that the prize represents ‘a good revenge’ for the memory of the thousands of women murdered in Brazil by partners or colleagues who cannot accept women’s freedom.
