NASA Announces Artemis III Crew for 2027 Lunar Mission

NASA confirmed a four‑person crew for Artemis III, the mission slated for 2027 that will test technologies needed for a sustainable human presence on the Moon. The astronauts are Frank Rubio, a U.S. medical officer who spent a record 371 consecutive days on the International Space Station; Randy Bresnik, a former ISS commander and military pilot; Luca Parmitano, an ESA astronaut with multiple spacewalks; and Andre Douglas, a robotics and exploration‑systems engineer.

Artemis III will validate docking procedures, communications, logistics and other critical systems, providing data that will shape the design of later Artemis flights and future deep‑space travel. The mission underscores international cooperation, involving ESA and commercial partners, with key hardware contributions from Europe, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and Canada supporting the broader lunar‑base program.
