NASA launches Artemis II lunar mission toward the Moon

NASA’s Artemis II mission has launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, carrying a crew of four: Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen. The crew is aboard the Orion spacecraft for a 10-day mission intended to travel around the Moon and return to Earth.

Looking ahead to the Artemis III mission, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman has indicated a potential launch window as early as June 2027. This upcoming mission will focus on critical testing, including docking the Orion spacecraft with lunar landers in low Earth orbit. The mission plans involve coordinating with commercial partners, specifically SpaceX’s Starship and Blue Origin’s Mark 2 lander, to ensure reliable space docking and landing capabilities.
