OpenAI and Poland’s NASK partner on AI safety research
OpenAI and Poland’s NASK National Research Institute have signed an agreement to collaborate on artificial intelligence safety, security, and technical research. This partnership is noted as the first of its kind within the European Union.
The collaboration will be led by NASK’s AI Safety Research Center, which functions as Poland’s Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute (AISI). The joint research aims to evaluate increasingly capable AI systems, identify potential vulnerabilities, and strengthen safeguards against emerging risks. Key areas of focus include detecting AI-generated content and analyzing how language affects the nature of AI-related threats.
The agreement builds upon previous cooperation between OpenAI and CERT Polska, a cybersecurity team within NASK. In July, CERT Polska utilized OpenAI’s cybersecurity models through the Daybreak program to help identify six software vulnerabilities in MikroTik RouterOS. The vendor has since released fixes for those flaws.
