Brazil roadworks disrupt traffic on Fernão Dias, BR‑040, BR‑280 and others

Several Brazilian highway concessionaires have announced maintenance and expansion works that will affect traffic on major routes. The Motiva Minas SP concessionaire posted a weekly schedule for the Fernão Dias (BR‑381) corridor, with lane closures and drainage work in Guarulhos, Atibaia and other towns through Friday. EPR Via Mineira is carrying out pavement rehabilitation, signage upgrades and drainage improvements on the BR‑040 between Juiz de Fora and Belo Horizonte, with partial lane closures and “pare e siga” control in multiple municipalities. The DNIT will temporarily block a section of the BR‑280 in Guaramirim on Wednesday for the construction of a provisional access and utility relocation, also using “pare e siga” traffic management. A planned full‑day closure of the Régis Bittencourt (BR‑116) return device in Miracatu was cancelled, postponing the intended repair of a special structure. In Santa Catarina, the state secretariat is preparing bids for the ViaMar project, a six‑lane parallel road to the BR‑101, with technical visits underway for the 24‑km, R$ 2.2 billion segment. Drivers are repeatedly advised to plan trips, respect temporary signage, reduce speed and expect possible delays due to weather‑related rescheduling.
