Nathan Owens accused of murdering stepdaughter in UK dormitory
Nathan Owens, 34, has been accused of the murder of his stepdaughter, Carla Georgescu, a Romanian student found dead in her dormitory at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston, United Kingdom.
Georgescu was discovered in her room on Victoria Street behind a wardrobe door with a belt around her neck. The discovery occurred on the day she was due to celebrate her 20th birthday. Investigators believe Owens, who is from Hartlepool, developed a sexual obsession with the young woman, citing evidence such as sexually modified photographs and indecent video materials.
Surveillance footage shows Owens entering the dormitory at approximately 4:00 AM with a blanket over his head to avoid identification. He was later seen leaving at 5:30 AM wearing a medical mask and using an umbrella to hide his face. At the time of his departure, he was reportedly carrying the victim's clothing and wearing her sneakers. Prosecutors suggest that jealousy regarding Georgescu's plans to meet a young man from Romania may have been a motive.
