National Bank of North Macedonia strengthens statistical capacities

The National Bank of North Macedonia is strengthening its statistical and analytical capacities through ongoing cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other international institutions. During meetings held on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Governor Trajko Slaveski and a National Bank delegation discussed collaborative efforts to enhance data quality, scope, and timeliness.

Key developments include a major revision of balance of payments and financial accounts statistics conducted in 2026, which improved methodological foundations and data comparability. The Bank has achieved full compliance with the SDDS Plus statistical standard. Additionally, digitalization efforts are underway, specifically the development of an external statistics data warehouse supported by the European Union.

Looking forward, the Bank is preparing to implement new international statistical standards, including SNA 2025 and BPM7, with continued support from the IMF.
