National Commission for Women women legislators gender-responsive governance capacity building women empowerment

The National Commission for Women (NCW) concluded a two-day Capacity Building Programme for Women Legislators held under its ‘She Is a Change Maker’ initiative. The workshop brought together women legislators from more than 25 states and Union Territories to strengthen their leadership, knowledge, and skills in governance and legislative processes.

During the event, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini highlighted the transformative potential of women's leadership in nation-building. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the historic necessity of providing 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies.

Technical sessions covered various critical topics, including the role of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) in women's empowerment, led by Saharanpur Chief Development Officer Sumit Mahajan. Other sessions focused on gender-responsive governance and gender budgeting, led by Neelam Gorhe, and effective public leadership, led by Madhulika Kaushik.
