National Democratic Congress candidates launch regional election bids in Ghana

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is preparing for internal regional elections in Ghana, with several candidates announcing their bids for leadership positions.

In the Upper East Region, supporters are calling for the retention of Salifu Alukuba as the Regional Zongo Caucus Coordinator. Proponents cite his experience in mobilizing Zongo communities, his role as a unifier among youth and elders, and his history of grassroots engagement as key reasons for continuity.

In the Ashanti Region, the current Regional Organiser, Isham Alhassan Yaw Bonsu, has officially announced his candidacy for the position of Ashanti Regional Chairman. After picking up nomination forms, Bonsu stated his campaign is focused on rebuilding and empowering the party’s grassroots base rather than personal ambition. He has called for a peaceful and respectful campaign period among all candidates.
