National District Mayor's Office recovers public space in Santo Domingo

The National District Mayor's Office in Santo Domingo conducted an operation to recover public spaces on Los Mártires Avenue at the corner of Máximo Gómez. The intervention, carried out by the Directorate of Defense and Use of Public Spaces (DUEP), resulted in the demolition of six illegal structures that were obstructing pedestrian sidewalks.

The removed structures consisted of two storage booths, two cafeterias, and two betting shops. José Aníbal Sanz, director of the DUEP, stated that these actions are part of permanent operations intended to return public spaces to citizens and ensure organized, safe, and walkable routes.

Following the removal of the structures, the municipality conducts beautification processes in the recovered areas. Similar recent interventions by the DUEP included the removal of five lottery stands and one mattress store in the Costa Brava, Mata Hambre, and Villa Consuelo sectors.
