Dominican Republic implements social, educational, and tourism initiatives

Various social and governmental initiatives are underway in the Dominican Republic and among its diaspora. In Santo Domingo, the social development agency Supérate met with the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) to strengthen social protection and labor inclusion policies. Additionally, President Luis Abinader and the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI) inaugurated a new covered sports center at the Santo Cura de Ars Educational Center, benefiting over 1,500 students.

Community support for the upcoming school year is also prominent. In New York City, community organizations are distributing free school supplies to Dominican families across several boroughs, including Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. Within the Dominican Republic, local leaders and professional groups are conducting similar drives in Villa Mella, La Vega, and other sectors to provide backpacks and materials to students.

On a policy level, the Ministry of Tourism and RD-Vial launched a national tourist signage plan to modernize road orientation in major destinations like La Altagracia and Puerto Plata. Furthermore, the Ministry of Justice and the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP) are collaborating to integrate the business sector into the National Human Rights System.
