National Gallery of Singapore announces senior leadership departures
The National Gallery of Singapore will see the departure of two senior executives in December: Chief Curator Patrick Flores and Assistant Chief Executive Chris Lee. These exits follow the previously announced departure of CEO Eugene Tan, who will be succeeded by Chng Hak-Peng.
Patrick Flores, who held the chief curator title since 2024, plans to return to his native Philippines. His previous work includes curating pavilions for the Venice Biennale and serving as artistic director for the Singapore Biennale. It remains unconfirmed if the chief curator position will be maintained following his exit.
Chris Lee, who has been with the institution for a decade, will transition to the role of chief executive at Medan Pasar Realty in mid-December. In this new capacity, he will oversee the revitalization of a historic market area in Kuala Lumpur and lead the nonprofit gallery and theater Muara Arts.
While stepping down from the National Gallery, Eugene Tan will continue his role as CEO of the Singapore Art Museum into the new year. Both institutions have stated they remain committed to ongoing collaboration and resource sharing.
