National Gallery Singapore leadership restructuring
Overview
The National Gallery Singapore (NGS) and the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) announced a restructuring of their leadership model, moving from a shared leadership structure to dedicated heads effective January 1, 2027. Under this plan, Dr. Eugene Tan will transition from serving as CEO of both institutions to focusing exclusively on leading the Singapore Art Museum. Chng Hak-Peng, formerly of the Singapore Symphony Group, was named as the successor for the NGS CEO role, beginning a transition period as “CEO-Designate”.
Following this initial announcement, the National Gallery Singapore confirmed further senior departures scheduled for December. Chief Curator Patrick Flores will depart to return to the Philippines, and Assistant Chief Executive Chris Lee will leave to join Medan Pasar Realty in Kuala Lumpur. Despite these individual exits and the shift in management structure, both institutions stated they will continue to collaborate and share resources.
