National Geographic Traveler names Poland's Wonders 2026
The National Geographic Traveler “Cuda Polski 2026” plebiscite has concluded, selecting one premier tourist destination from each of Poland's 16 voivodeships. Following a six-week voting period involving hundreds of thousands of participants, the winners were officially announced on October 14.
In the Wielkopolska region, the Land of 100 Lakes (Kraina 100 Jezior) was named the winner. Located west of Poznań near Sierakowo and Międzychód, the area is characterized by its high density of lakes, the Puszcza Notecka forest complex, and undulating terrain. It is noted for activities such as cycling, hiking, and water sports, including kayaking on lakes like Jaroszewskie, Lutomskie, Chrzypskie, and Wielkie.
In the Świętokrzyskie region, the Nida River was selected as the regional winner. The river and its valley are recognized for their natural biodiversity, meandering currents, and extensive meadows, providing a habitat for numerous bird and aquatic species. The selection highlights the area's growing appeal to both domestic and international tourists seeking nature-based recreation.
