National Identification Authority to launch 24-hour centres in Ghana

The National Identification Authority (NIA) is expanding its operations by rolling out more than 20 24-hour Prestige Centres across Ghana. This initiative is expected to create over 120 jobs through partnerships with private entities.

Announced by NIA Executive Secretary Wisdom Kwaku Deku, the expansion aims to support the government’s 24-hour economy agenda and provide more flexible access to Ghana Card services. The centres will operate on a three-shift system to allow for around-the-clock service, including first-time registrations, replacements for lost or damaged cards, and personal information updates.

The first 24-hour centre is located in Accra, with two additional facilities scheduled to open in Kumasi this weekend. The extended hours are intended to assist citizens whose work schedules or urgent needs prevent them from visiting offices during standard business hours.
