Brazil's National Identity Card enables GOV. BR gold security level
The Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) has announced that 22 million Brazilians who have already issued the National Identity Card (CIN) have not yet used the document to upgrade their GOV. BR account to the 'gold' security level.
Of the 64 million people who possess the CIN, approximately 52 million have active GOV. BR accounts. Currently, 30 million users have achieved gold status, while 6 million hold silver accounts and 16 million remain at the bronze level. Upgrading to gold status enhances digital security against fraud and provides full access to over 5,000 federal digital services and 8,300 state services.
To upgrade, users must access the GOV. BR mobile app, select the option to increase their level, scan the QR code on their physical CIN, and complete facial recognition. The ministry also recommends enabling two-step verification within the app's security section to further protect user data.
