National Integrity Agency identifies 67 officials to vacate public mandates

The National Integrity Agency (ANI) has expanded its investigation into public officials holding positions in violation of integrity laws. Following additional checks, including on-site inspections, the agency identified 67 individuals occupying a total of 71 functions or mandates that are subject to mandatory termination under Law no. 180/2026.

The group of affected officials includes 11 mayors (one municipality mayor, five city mayors, and five commune mayors), 21 local councilors, and 10 deputy mayors, public administrators, or secretaries. Additionally, the list includes 24 public officials in management or executive roles and 5 individuals in other positions.

This updated figure exceeds the 55 individuals reported at the end of August. The increase is attributed to the discovery of officials who failed to submit wealth declarations or claimed to have ended their professional activities while continuing to hold public office. Among those affected is Dominic Fritz, the Mayor of Timișoara and president of the USR party, in a case involving a final judicial decision regarding a conflict of interest.
