National Nutrition Agency activates 980 service units in Indonesia

The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has activated 980 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) across 16 provinces in Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Bali. These units are specifically targeted at underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions, as well as areas with high stunting prevalence. The simultaneous activation was centered in Aceh Besar.

In Riau province, the addition of 87 new units brings the total number of operational SPPG kitchens to 683, aiming to serve approximately 1.5 million beneficiaries. However, BGN officials noted that 13 units in Riau have been temporarily suspended due to administrative issues, specifically the lack of Hygiene and Sanitation Feasibility Certificates (SLHS).

BGN Head Sudaryono emphasized that the activation process follows official systems to prevent unauthorized intermediaries or fraudulent service providers. Additionally, officials have called for stricter food quality supervision and the protection of local food commodities to ensure program budgets support regional economies.
