National Nutrition Agency develops rating app for Free Nutritious Meal program
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is developing a mobile application to monitor the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. Similar to ride-hailing apps, the platform will allow school principals to rate the kitchens serving their students. Principals will be able to provide star ratings and notes regarding food quality, menu variety, and delivery punctuality.
Sudaryono stated that the agency is currently developing a courier monitoring system to track the handover process of meals to schools. The expanded rating feature for principals is expected to be accessible within one to three weeks to help evaluate service quality and recipient satisfaction.
In parallel, food science experts are emphasizing the need for strict food safety protocols as the program scales. Prof. Eko Hari Purnomo from IPB University noted that large-scale production requires specialized equipment to ensure even heating of proteins like meat and eggs to prevent microbial growth. He advised that the capacity of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) must be carefully matched to their storage facilities, equipment, and distribution systems to manage risks associated with mass food production.
