National Nutrition Agency faces corruption probe and leadership reforms
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is facing scrutiny regarding the management of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. During a pretrial hearing in Jakarta, former Deputy Head of BGN Lodewyk Pusung testified that he received a phone call from Cabinet Secretariat official Teddy Indra Wijaya on June 2, 2026. Pusung stated that during the call, Wijaya conveyed thanks from President Prabowo Subianto for his service. Shortly after this exchange, Pusung and other top officials were removed from their positions. Pusung was subsequently arrested by the Attorney General's Office in connection with alleged corruption within the MBG program.
In a separate development, the current Head of BGN, Sudaryono, has issued a stern warning to service unit heads regarding violations of operational procedures. Sudaryono stated that officials found violating rules or engaging in misconduct, such as price manipulation of food ingredients, will face dismissal and legal action. He emphasized that the agency is currently reforming its governance and supply chain management to ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures.
