National Nutrition Agency faces Rp10 trillion annual waste report
The Indonesian Attorney General’s Office has revealed that the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) found significant budget waste within the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) regarding the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. During a pretrial hearing involving former Deputy Chairman of the BGN, Lodewyk Pusung, prosecutors stated that the waste is estimated to reach approximately Rp10 trillion per year.
In response to procurement risks, the BGN is tightening oversight to prevent price markups by heads of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG). Officials emphasized that all food procurement must adhere to established production cost benchmarks (HPP). Additionally, the agency has issued Circular Letter Number 14 of 2026, signed by BGN Head Sudaryono, which mandates the absorption of eggs from local farmers to ensure market certainty and prevent price manipulation.
