Indonesia targets Rp40 trillion for 2026 National Online Shopping Day
The Indonesian government has set a transaction target of Rp40 trillion (approximately US$2.1 billion) for the 2026 National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas), scheduled for December 10–16, 2026. This represents a projected 10 percent increase from the Rp36.4 trillion recorded in 2025.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the event serves as a strategic instrument to stimulate the national economy during the fourth quarter of 2026. The government aims for a 6 percent economic growth rate in Q4 to establish a foundation for achieving similar growth in 2027. The target is supported by Indonesia’s expanding digital economy, which reached approximately US$100 billion in 2025, and a significant rise in video commerce transactions, which grew by nearly 90 percent to 2.6 billion transactions.
Minister of Trade Budi Santoso noted that Harbolnas is a collaborative effort between the government and the Indonesian E-commerce Association (IdEA). The initiative is designed to boost consumer purchasing power toward the end of the year and encourage the use of local products, which accounted for 45 percent of transactions in the previous year.
