National Registration Department processes 13,000 late birth registrations

The National Registration Department (JPN) has resolved nearly 13,000 cases of late birth registration this year, averaging approximately 1,000 cases per month. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated that these efforts are vital to ensure children obtain valid identification documents, which are necessary for school enrollment and hospital treatment.

In a separate update regarding identity documents, JPN has issued 275,785 new-generation MyKad cards between September 17 and October 20. These upgraded cards feature 53 security elements, including QR codes, ultraviolet features, and holograms, an increase from the 23 features found in previous versions. Johor recorded the highest issuance with 31,392 cards, followed by Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

Additionally, the Home Minister announced allocations of RM500,000 for Kampung Melayu Sedenak and RM100,000 for Sekolah Menengah Pendidikan Khas Indahpura as part of the MADANI Adopted Village Program, which aims to support vulnerable families and improve local infrastructure.
