National Sports Festival sees major medal hauls and dramatic victories

Athletes from various regions are achieving significant success at the 107th National Sports Festival in Jeju. The Gyeongsangnam-do delegation has secured over 100 medals, including 20 gold, 31 silver, and 52 bronze medals across 25 disciplines. Notable performers include Kim Seo-yun, who set a new tournament record in the women’s 400m athletics event with a time of 54.10 seconds, and Seon Min-ju, who earned two gold medals in canoeing.

In Taekwondo, Yun Mi-re of Yeosu High School secured a gold medal in the men’s under-18 -74kg category. Yun achieved a dramatic comeback victory by landing a decisive kick with only five seconds remaining in the final match, overcoming a recent period of injury and performance slumps.
