National Testing Agency begins UGC-NET re-exams for three subjects

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced re-examinations for the UGC-NET June 2026 cycle in English, Commerce, and Sociology. The decision follows an inquiry that identified numerous factual, typographical, and translation errors in the original question papers, including misspelled scholar names, garbled book titles, and grammatical mistakes.

The re-examination schedule includes English and Commerce on September 9, with English in the morning shift and Commerce in the afternoon. Sociology is scheduled for the morning shift on September 10. These exams determine eligibility for PhD admissions, Assistant Professor positions, and Junior Research Fellowships.

In New Delhi, the NTA has issued a travel advisory for candidates due to anticipated traffic restrictions and diversions related to the upcoming 18th BRICS Summit. Candidates are urged to plan journeys in advance to avoid delays. Additionally, the Delhi High Court has directed the NTA to consider decisions regarding the refund of examination fees for the English paper.
