NATO accuses China of aiding Russia in Ukraine conflict
NATO officials have warned that China is supporting Russia’s war effort in Ukraine, alleging that Beijing is providing political, economic and technological assistance, and even training Russian troops for combat. NATO Secretary‑General Mark Rutte said Western intelligence is closely monitoring Beijing’s actions and highlighted links between Russia, China, North Korea and Iran, though he gave no specifics at a press conference.
Chinese and Russian governments rejected the claims. China’s foreign ministry called the accusations a “cheap political move” and maintained that Beijing remains neutral, promotes dialogue and does not supply weapons to either side. The Kremlin echoed the denial, urging scepticism about the training reports. The dispute reflects growing tension between NATO and China over security issues, trade in dual‑use goods and broader geopolitical competition.
