NATO allies face surge in hybrid warfare and sabotage

European security officials are reporting an increase in hybrid warfare tactics attributed to Russia, aimed at destabilizing NATO allies and disrupting military supply chains to Ukraine.

In Estonia, authorities are investigating a fire at a Milrem Robotics drone factory in Tallinn, a key supplier of unmanned ground vehicles to Ukrainian forces. Latvia has arrested three individuals suspected of involvement in arson targeting defense facilities. Similar incidents, including explosions and fires at arms manufacturers, have been reported in Italy, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, and Lithuania.

Western intelligence suggests these sabotage attempts often utilize local criminal elements to maintain plausible deniability and avoid triggering NATO’s Article 5 collective defense clause. Meanwhile, reports indicate NATO has developed multi-phase war scenarios involving combat aircraft and missiles, focusing on potential conflict zones near the Baltic borders.
