NATO approves Patriot missile rotation for Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport

NATO has approved a rotation plan to ensure that allied Patriot missile systems will continue to protect the Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport in Poland through 2027. This strategic logistics hub, known as Polloghub, is critical for the transport of military aid to Ukraine and the movement of international leaders.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed that the defense of the airspace will be provided by allied systems rather than Polish batteries. While the specific nation providing the next contingent has not been publicly named due to diplomatic protocol, the Ministry of National Defense has been informed of the upcoming rotation.

The current mission, involving approximately 300 Dutch soldiers equipped with Patriot systems, NASAMS, and drone defense tools, is scheduled to conclude in late 2026. Additionally, discussions are ongoing regarding the potential establishment of a permanent United States base in Poland, with a decision expected between late November and December.
