NATO conducts coordinated surveillance from Murmansk to Kaliningrad

NATO has deployed a coordinated network of maritime patrol, airborne early warning, tanker, and signals-intelligence assets across Northern Europe. The operations span a wide area, from the waters off Murmansk to the Kaliningrad region.

German Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft conducted low-altitude maritime surveillance over specific target areas. In the north, a Norwegian P-8A operated near Murmansk to monitor the Russian Northern Fleet and activity around the Kola Peninsula. Meanwhile, a Swedish Gulfstream S102B Korpen conducted signals intelligence (SIGINT) over the southern Baltic to monitor the Kaliningrad area.

The surveillance effort was supported by aerial refueling missions to extend aircraft endurance. A NATO Airbus A330-243MRTT provided refueling for a Boeing E-3A Sentry to maintain command-and-control capabilities, while a French Airbus A330-243MRTT conducted refueling operations over Finland.
