NATO security concerns rise amid warnings of Russian escalation

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned of an increasing Russian threat to NATO, describing the next six months as a “decisive” period. Following discussions with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Tusk called for enhanced air defense support for Ukraine, arguing that Kyiv’s security is directly linked to European stability. He cautioned that the Alliance must prepare for various scenarios, ranging from hybrid warfare to more direct pressures.

Simultaneously, Russian envoy Nikolai Kortsunov warned that the lack of substantive communication between Russia and NATO increases the risk of uncontrolled military escalation. He emphasized the need to restore direct military contacts and confidence-building measures to prevent miscalculations. This warning comes amid rising tensions in European airspace, including drone and missile sightings, and concerns that Russia may test NATO's resilience through military actions against member states.
