NATO to boost troop presence in Estonia to 1,200 personnel by 2027
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization will increase its force size in Estonia to about 1,200 personnel by 2027, an addition of roughly 300 troops. The bulk of the new personnel will come from the United Kingdom, which will also deploy long‑range unmanned aircraft and begin delivering equipment and ammunition in 2026.
Joint training exercises involving the British 4th Armoured Brigade are scheduled for 2027. Russian officials have noted the heightened NATO activity near Russia's western border and warned that they will not ignore actions they deem to threaten their national interests.
