Natura integrates AI to mitigate climate and El Niño risks

Natura is enhancing its climate mitigation and adaptation strategies by integrating predictive artificial intelligence to combat the effects of El Niño and broader climate change. In partnership with the startup MeteoIA, the company has developed the Socio-climatic Risk Radar, a tool that uses AI to assess potential climate impacts and provide data for mapping corporate and operational risks.

To protect its supply chains, Natura utilizes Natura-GIS, a geographic information system platform that tracks socio-biodiversity assets and monitors harvests. The company also employs a Calamity Protocol, which has been activated over 30 times since 2020 to respond to emergencies such as floods, extreme droughts, and wildfires.

On a broader scale, climate change is shifting from a purely environmental challenge to a significant economic driver. As extreme weather events increase in frequency, new market demands are emerging for technologies focused on climate adaptation, including monitoring systems, extreme event forecasting, agricultural sensors, and resilient infrastructure.
