Natural disasters strike Pomas, France, and Nepal

A series of significant natural events has occurred recently, including a violent tornado in Pomas, France, on August 24. The tornado impacted approximately 300 of the 496 homes in the area and resulted in 48 injuries. While a direct link to climate change is still being studied, experts note that warming can increase storm intensity and tornado duration.

In Nepal and Tibet, the collapse of a glacier at an altitude of approximately 5,200 meters has triggered devastating floods. The collapse caused an avalanche of ice, rocks, and sediment. Scientists are investigating the precise causes, though accelerated glacier melting due to climate change is considered a potential contributing factor to the instability of the region.
